Thank you to the over 50 community members who attended our drop-in session at Third Place Commons on February 27. We enjoyed meeting you and listening to your questions and concerns about the potential Town Center redevelopment. We captured the top three most common questions asked at the drop-in:
Q: What is MGP’s vision for the Town Center?
A: Our goal is to create a space the community values and appreciates as well as one that supports and fosters economic growth and supports our investment. Once MGP has a clear understanding of the City’s new Town Center design framework and development code, we can move forward with creating a more thorough vision and site plan.
Q: What is a non-project Environmental Impact Statement (EIS)?
A: A non-project level EIS is a tool the city is using to evaluate a range of development scenarios that they could incorporate into the Town Center land use code. It examines the potential environmental impacts of these scenarios on things like traffic and water quality. These scenarios or alternative do not represent MGP’s plans for the site. The City released an FAQ document that provides greater detail on the process.
Q: Will Sound Transit build a parking garage a Town Center?
A: As far as we know, Sound Transit has not officially determined the location of its parking garage in Lake Forest Park; however we do anticipate it will be on the Town Center site. They were last out in the community to discuss the project in January 2019, providing an opportunity public comment. We offered our comments along with other stakeholders. You can provide thoughts on the Sound Transit’s plans here. They are scheduled to publicly reveal the location later this year or in early 2020.
